Discover the Trient valley with this route without technical difficulties. You will discover the Trient Glacier bar after a first rolling part, alternating tracks and small roads, ideal for warming up. Arrived at the refreshment bar, you will continue on a pretty little balcony path, along the bisse de Trient. This irrigation channel was built on the old route of the railway line which was used to transport the ice from the Trient glacier to the Col de la Forclaz. In the 19th century, before the invention of refrigerators, the Trient glacier was indeed operated industrially to provide the ice necessary for the preservation of food. It was shipped to Paris or Marseille. Along the Bisse de Trient, you can discover the remains of this exploitation.
